Introducing

Praveen K Mambalam, MD is double board certified in Pain Management and Anesthesiology. Dr. Mambalam originally hails from the East Coast where he completed his B.S. at the University of Maryland, College Park and Doctor of Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth School of Medicine. He went on to complete his residency training in anesthesiology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Now a local product of the University of Washington where he completed his training in Pain Management Fellowship. As a product of American Board of Anesthesiology accredited pain fellowship, he perspective on the latest advances in comprehensive pain management.

He has greater than ten years of experience applying a comprehensive approach to manage pain and keep therapies balanced and safe. His goal is to improve function and thereby improve the quality of life for those struggling with a life of pain. Dr. Mambalam has specific interests in patient-controlled methods to manage pain such as Spinal Cord Stimulation, Dorsal Root Ganglion Stimulation, Peripheral Nerve Stimulation, and intrathecal drug delivery. Dr. Mambalam is also an assistant professor at the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, Washington State University and enjoys teaching the next generation of doctors interested in anesthesiology and pain.

Clinical Trials

Dr. Mambalam has served as primary and sub-investigators in several clinical research trials from Phase I through IV in various areas of pain management. They have significant research experience involving novel medications for pain conditions such as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN), and chronic low back pain. They also have experience with devices such as Spinal Cord Stimulation. They have even conducted research on stem cell therapies for chronic pain conditions including degenerative disc disease (DDD). It is their goal to be at the forefront of pain management with it rapidly progressing science.

He believes that Chronic Pain is a disease that can be conquered with a balanced multidisciplinary approach focusing on improving function.
