The mind is a powerful tool. With a limited number of sessions with our psychologist, patients learn how to view chronic pain clearly and develop effective ways to maintain an active lifestyle. Unhealthy behaviors (such as smoking, alcohol use, poor diet, lack of exercise,poor sleep hygiene etc) are major contributory factors to chronic pain and will be discussed at your appointment. The majority of patients who benefit from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other forms of psychological approaches to chronic pain do not have a mental health condition.
